Terms of Use & Privacy Policy

McMaster University is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its alumni and other stakeholders. We value the trust of those we deal with, and of the public.

All McMaster graduates are members of the McMaster Alumni Association. On graduation, the information provided on your Graduation Information Form is used by University Staff on behalf of the Alumni Association so that we can send you the alumni magazine (free of charge) and other forms of communication, including information about alumni events, activities, services and benefits; and offer you opportunities to support the University by mail, email and telephone.

During the course of our various activities, we gather and use personal information. Your personal information is treated in accordance with our privacy policy and applicable legislation. Your information is kept in confidence and safeguards are in place to ensure that information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered. We also take measures to ensure the integrity of this information is maintained and to prevent it from being lost or destroyed.

For further information on privacy, or if you choose: to opt out of receiving information from the University's third-party affinity partners about services and benefits available to you as a McMaster graduate; to have your information remain solely with the University; or to not have your email address subject to confirmation of accuracy; or, to have your personal information cease to be used/disclosed for fundraising purposes, please print out this preferences form and mail it back to us, or call us at 1-888-217-6003.

Incorporated into this Privacy Policy is McMaster University's statement on Collection of Personal Information and Protection of Privacy. Please further note that certain data may be stored on off-site servers, potentially in a jurisdiction outside of Ontario, and that certain third-party service providers may be utilized in respect of such collection and storage on McMaster University’s behalf.
